As the name suggests, clear aligner therapy uses aligners made of thin, clear, strong plastic. When worn, these aligners are virtually invisible. This makes clear aligner therapy a great option if you would prefer to avoid the appearance of traditional metal braces.

You can remove clear aligners to eat and drink, brush and floss, play sports, and more. This means there are fewer dietary and lifestyle restrictions, compared to wearing traditional metal braces.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

THE CLEAR ALIGNER TREATMENT PROCESS
First, you’ll need to come to your Minnetonka dentist to find out if you’re a good candidate for clear aligner therapy. If Dr. Olson or Dr. Scott approves you for treatment, they will begin developing your treatment plan right away.
GETTING YOUR FIRST SET OF ALIGNERS
You’ll come back in a few weeks to get your first several sets of aligners. Each set of aligners is typically worn for two weeks, then you’ll switch to a new one. Dr. Scott or Dr. Olson will give you detailed instructions on how to wear and care for your aligners.
WEARING YOUR ALIGNERS AND CHECKUPS
You’ll need to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day. Every 6-8 weeks, you’ll come back to our office for a quick checkup, and to get your next few sets of aligners. You’ll repeat this same basic process until your treatment is complete, which usually takes about a year.
